Tentative Agreement Reached with BC Safety Authority

The final issue outstanding in negotiations has been resolved. Your bargaining committee has reached a tentative settlement with the BC Safety Authority for a three-year renewal collective agreement. Highlights of the new agreement include:

• A 2% general wage increase in the first pay of January of each year of the three-year agreement;

• Implementation of a new job evaluation plan which will provide up to an additional 3% in wage increases, for certain classifications, in the first pay period of July of each year of the three-year agreement;

• A 4% temporary market adjustment for Safety Officers - Elevating;

• Increases in safety footwear allowance, meal allowances and travel allowances for leave for medical and dental care;

• Significant improvements in health and welfare benefits coverage.

Details of the settlement will be mailed to members. Ratification will be conducted by mail-in ballot and will be supplemented by a conference call and information meetings held in June at various locations around the province.

The bargaining committee would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to all bargaining unit members who expressed their support and solidarity during this very complicated set of negotiations.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:
