To: All LifeLabs BC Employees
Today we concluded the Representation Vote process for Cam Coady Building (CCB) and our non union patient service centre locations in BC. Employees in eligible positions voted to decide to be represented by the BCGEU or remain non union.
We are pleased to announce there was excellent voter participation. Out of 738 eligible voters, 621 cast a ballot. That is 84% who participated in the vote.
The result is…
Employees in eligible positions have voted in favour of BCGEU representation. The vote count was 148 in favour of BCGEU representation and 94 in favour of remaining non-union.
Non-Union PSCs including BC Region
Employees in eligible positions have voted in favour of remaining non-union. The vote count was 253 in favour of remaining non-union and 126 in favour of BCGEU representation.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. It is wonderful to see that so many of you chose to actively participate and to make your preference known. It was important to both the LifeLabs leadership team and the BCGEU that you were able to participate in this decision and have your voice heard.
As with any vote, where there is choice, there are individuals whose opinion is different than the final result. We all need to be mindful and respectful that different opinions are still valid. Through the process of the representation vote it was important to both the LifeLabs leadership team and the BCGEU that employee choice was heard. This result represents the majority voice.
A very special thank you to all the teams, employees and leaders, BCGEU organizers and activists in the Lower Mainland PSCs and Region, and at CCB and BRL who committed whole-heartedly to this process and worked to answer questions, hold meetings, and support our team.
