ELECTION VOICES - April 18, 2009

"My grandfather and father worked and raised their families working in the forest industry. None of my nephews or sons are going into the forestry field due to lack of work. Once a family way of life the Campbell Liberals have destroyed our family traditions.

For me they turned back my wages for years, took away my pension, vision care and family dental. Do I need to say more?

"The Liberals have decimated our province with P3s and if given another four years they will continue to to pad their rich friends' pockets and sell all of British Columbia's Crown assets. They need to be stopped!

"Reinstate the Ministry of Women's Equality... Go after the federal government and implement a universal child care system, and pay early childhood educators what we are truly worth."

"We've had reasonably strong economic growth and low unemployment, yet there has been growing inequality, poverty and homelessness. We continue to have the highest poverty rate in the country and the highest child poverty rate for five years running.

"Some of the reasons are: welfare that is increasingly inadequate and inaccessible, a minimum wage that's been frozen for eight years and shares with PEI the distinction of being the lowest in the country, the erosion of employment standards so that low wage and vulnerable workers find it harder to get the pay and hours to which they're entitled, and the contracting out of jobs of thousands of health support workers."
