International Solidarity

Our union takes an active role on international solidarity issues because BCGEU members are part of a global community.

We work with other groups on the global stage because:

• of the bonds of solidarity between workers around the world;

• we have a fundamental commitment to human rights; and

• our jobs and the delivery of important public services for British Columbians are impacted by developments in other countries.

BCGEU has an active International Solidarity Committee to raise awareness about issues and to broaden our contacts and relationships with other groups around the world.

We allocate $0.10 per member per month to our Diane Wood International Solidarity and Humanity Fund. The fund provides financial support for projects that partner us with unions, community groups and non-governmental organizations in different parts of the world.

Through our partnership with CoDevelopment Canada, we also support and promote the sale of Café Etico  fair trade organic coffee.
