Wanted: Area Office Temporary Staff Representatives

Interested in a new challenge? Have strong interpersonal skills? Have a proven track record at problem solving? Are you a steward\local officer and have taken the BCGEU shop steward courses? Are you active within your community? Attended a labour rally lately? Are you a member of the BCGEU?

If you answered yes, you may consider submitting an expression of interest to be considered for an area office temporary BCGEU staff representative role.

Temporary Staff Representatives (TSRs) provide periodic backfill support for our area office during vacation, sick leaves or overload situations. Assignments can be short term or up to two [2] months in duration. TSRs do grievance research and handling, respond to membership queries, provide activist mentoring and training, attend local, employer and worksite meetings and much more. TSRs are covered by the CEP Local 467 collective agreement.

The position requires strong writing and research skills, knowledge of the Union's structure and the ability to work as part of a team to pro-actively represent our members. Be forewarned, the hours are irregular, the workload daunting, but rewards can be found each day in the smiles of members.

If you are interested, submit a written expression of interest to your area office Staff Representative and\or your Regional Coordinator outlining your activism within our union and your community. Visit www.bcgeu.ca/contact_us for area office contact info.
