Licensed Practical Nurses across the province are rejecting the BCNU raid and renewing their commitment to the BCGEU.
As we prepare for bargaining, it is more important than ever that health care workers stick together and stay focused.
We can’t let this raid be a distraction while we are working to achieve the much-needed improvements and market adjustments that LPNs deserve.
BCNU is the wrong union for LPNs
BCNU has opposed expanded roles for LPNs at every turn- they can’t be trusted to represent your interests.
Recently, at a meeting with the Fraser Health Authority in July 2009, a BCNU representative called the expansion of LPN duties in immunization “a move backwards.” After the meeting, the BCNU filed a grievance against the FHA to try to stop the integration of LPNs in administering immunizations.
LPNs and RNs have distinct professional interests. That’s why LPNs are in different unions in virtually every province.
How to revoke your BCNU membership card
Changed your mind about BCNU membership? Under the BC Labour Code, you can cancel or "revoke" your card by submitting a "revocation letter" to the BC Labour Relations Board and the BC Nurses' Union. We can assist you through this straightforward process. Contact Brandee Hannah at 604-612-7387 or brandee.hannah@bcgeu.ca and she will walk you through the process. You have until November 30 to revoke - call Brandee today!
Get informed! Below are some of the BCGEU materials on the raid.
