BCGEU certified worksites singled out for Child Care Month awards

Several BCGEU certifications are among those singled out this year for a Child Care Legacy Award in recognition of more than 40 years of service to British Columbians. The awards were handed out by the B.C. Government in recognition of Child Care Month in B.C.

The recognized centres are Acadia Daycare in Vancouver, Little Gosling in Vancouver and St. James Daycare in Vancouver. In total, nine child care centres were honoured by the government.

B.C. has more 5,000 licensed facilities and 10,000 early childhood educators. The BCGEU represents more child care workers in B.C. than any other union, with more than 1,500 early childhood educators working in more than 100 centres.
