Are you a Community Health Worker, Resident Care Aide or LPN?
Do you want to share your opinions about working in seniors' care?
Caring for seniors can be very rewarding work. But low staffing levels, scheduling challenges, contract retendering, and contracting out are some of the many difficulties faced by our members who work in facilities and communities across BC.
BCGEU is a member of a government-funded stakeholder committee that is looking at staffing issues in the not-for-profit and private component of seniors' care in BC. The committee's broad goal is to make sure that there are enough staff with the right skills and qualifications to meet the current and future demand for seniors' care. The committee wants to hear from workers about what's working, and what's not working, in seniors' care.
Your personal perspectives are important as the committee develops recommendations for change.
